The Teacher Registration Directorate is comprised of three branches: Registration and Customer Services, Investigations and Compliance, and Policy and Quality Assurance. Registration and Customer Services manages teacher applications, renewals and public enquiries, ensuring efficient and responsive service delivery. Investigations and Compliance oversees complaints, conducts investigations and monitors compliance with legislative and professional standards. Policy and Quality Assurance is responsible for developing policy, reviewing regulatory frameworks and maintaining the quality and integrity of registration and accreditation processes.
The Directorate provides secretariat services to the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia and supports the Board's mission of serving the public interest by ensuring that teachers are appropriately registered and teacher education programs are accredited in accordance with relevant legislation and in the best interests of children.
The Role
The role is responsible for delivering comprehensive administrative, reception and clerical support, including responding to incoming calls and emails, addressing customer enquiries, completing data entry, preparing correspondence and managing customer financial transactions such as invoicing, receipting and payment processing. The position also undertakes finance-related duties including maintaining and balancing onsite cash holdings, reconciling inward payments and completing weekly banking, while ensuring strict confidentiality of applicant and customer information.
The position provides advice and assistance to applicants, colleagues and stakeholders on teacher registration policy, procedures and legislative requirements under the Teacher Registration Act This includes managing complex registration enquiries, supporting effective regulatory functions, assisting with criminal history check processes through identity validation interviews, and ensuring compliance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation and policy frameworks.
The role contributes to continuous improvement by maintaining statistics, assisting in the review of policies, procedures and operational processes, and identifying trends, emerging issues and potential risks that may impact customer service delivery. The position liaises with the Senior Consultant Customer Service to support timely and appropriate resolutions and ensures correspondence is prioritised, accurate and completed within established timeframes.
