The Bureau of Meteorology’s Technology Service Operations team provide governance and operational support for Bureau systems and technology. This includes; 24x7 technical monitoring and support for Bureau operations, Major Incident and Problem Management, Change & Release Management, as well as Disaster Recovery Management. Based at the Bureau's Melbourne Office, this role is crucial in providing system resilience and uptime on the Bureau's operational production systems through effective DR processes and documentation. The key goal is to achieve high service availability for internal and external customers including Bureau partners and the general public, as well as contributing to the Bureau's aim of "Zero lives lost" via an aim of "Zero Service Interruptions".
The role of the Service Operations Disaster Recovery Manager is to work closely with relevant teams across the Bureau, as well as Vendors, and Project teams to facilitate the formulation and regular testing, as well as communication and information management of all DR processes across DDG at the Bureau.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the development, implementation, storage and continuous improvement of the Bureau's DR processes, documentation and effectiveness. The occupant will be required to have practical understanding and experience with Disaster Recovery and BCP processes as well as the ITIL framework.
The role reports to the Service Operations Manager and may also assist other areas of Service Operations (such as the Command Centre, Major Incident and Problem Management team, and the Change and Release team) as required.
