Cyber & Infrastructure Security|Critical Infrastructure Risk & Reg| Auscheck | Communications & Engagement

AusCheck Branch, within the Critical Infrastructure, Risk and Regulation Division, supports the mission to create a safer Australia by protecting critical infrastructure from malicious insider threats such as cyber‑attacks, terrorism, and organised crime. AusCheck provides background checking services for security‑sensitive critical infrastructure sectors in Australia.

The finance and procurement team provides end to end coordination and completion of AusCheck Branch procurement activities, is responsible for financial planning and reporting for the Branch including compliance with financial obligations, development of cost models, procurement, and contract management.

Our ideal candidate

* Have experience in a range of financial roles with a good knowledge of the Commonwealth financial framework and ability to quickly learn departmental IT systems, legislation and policy
* Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare and present information to Senior Executive and key stakeholders
* Be able to positively contribute in a team environment, displaying integrity and high ethical standards
* Possess good judgement and pay careful attention to detail in order to make lawful decisions confidently, while undertaking analysis and drawing accurate conclusions based on evidence
* Work collaboratively with others and remain calm under pressure in order to deliver efficient and accurate workplace outcomes.


Duties and responsibilities

* Preparation of financial journals and other calculations as needed
* Provide financial information to senior management and in support of New Policy Proposals, Senate Estimates Back Pocket Briefs
* Monitor and manage AusCheck debtors balance
* Contribute to build and manage AusCheck's budget
* Assist with system implementation changes and business improvement activities.


Additional information

The following will be highly regarded:

* Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, finance, business or similiar
* Accounting knowledge or experience enabling them to conduct a range of financial and budget activities
* Competency using Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:

* ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
* Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
