Synergie is seeking a Program Manager – Waste Oil Refining to join our team in NSW (Sydney or Newcastle).
The important parts
* Shift: Day shift – Monday to Friday
* Hours: Full-time, standard business hours (some flexibility for site visits)
* Pay rate: $165 - $184 per hour
* Start Date: Immediate start available
* Duration: Initial 12 months, with potential extension up to 24 months
What you will be required to do
Program & Project Leadership
* Lead, coordinate, and govern the portfolio of capital, maintenance, safety, and infrastructure projects across NSW Waste Oil Refinery assets
* Develop and maintain the program roadmap, milestones, sequencing, and resource allocation
* Oversee multiple Project Managers, engineers, and contractors delivering individual projects
* Provide executive-level reporting on program progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes
Financial & Governance
* Manage CAPEX planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance
* Ensure consistent application of Cleanaway's project management framework and adherence to governance standards
* Support business cases, investment proposals, and capital approval documentation
Risk, Safety & Compliance
* Conduct risk assessments and oversee high-risk engineering works, including flare systems, relief systems, and catalyst handling
* Ensure compliance with HS&E, environmental, regulatory, and Australian standards
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Support
* Collaborate with operations, engineering, HSE, procurement, finance, and senior leadership
* Provide guidance to Project Managers and operational teams to ensure safe and successful project delivery
* Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
To be successful in the role you will
* Have 7+ years' experience in program or portfolio management within industrial, chemical, energy, refinery, or heavy manufacturing sectors
* Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar CAPEX programs and multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong capability in risk management, financial governance, and project prioritisation
* Experience managing safety-critical or high-risk engineering projects
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline (highly desirable)
* Experience with stage-gate project governance frameworks (Identify / Define / Execute)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Full working rights in Australia
