Location: Melbourne
You've spent years managing a product portfolio for someone else's growth story. You know your products inside out. You've sat in supplier meetings, built the plans, written the briefs, and watched the business grow, knowing you were ready for more.
This is that moment.
We are working exclusively with a government-backed diagnostics business in Melbourne to find a Product Manager who will take full ownership of their distribution portfolio and build it into something significant.
The opportunity:
* The distribution arm of this business has existed for years alongside a well-established manufacturing operation but it has never had a dedicated person with the commercial brief to grow it until now.
* You will walk in on day one with a live portfolio of diagnostic products ELISA kits, PCR kits, and a veterinary pharmaceutical distributed across Australia, New Zealand, South America, and beyond.
* You will manage supplier relationships in Europe, distributor partnerships in South America, and work alongside global names.
* It does not stop at what already exists. Part of your brief is to look beyond animal health into human health, environmental testing, and food testing and identify the next distribution partnerships that will shape what this business becomes.
What makes this genuinely different:
* Full autonomy - You will not be presenting recommendations up three layers of management. You report directly to the Country Director, she is looking for someone who brings ideas and runs with them.
* In a large corporate, you are a product manager in one lane. Here you will touch regulatory, logistics, operations, supplier negotiations, marketing execution, and commercial strategy.
* If you have ever wanted to understand how a business actually runs, you will learn it here.
* A succession path that is real, the Country Director is clear - as the distribution business grows, so does this role. The person who builds this well will be the natural successor to lead the Australian business.
* A team that is genuinely good to work with, a leader who measures output, not hours, and trusts her team to get on with it. Fridays finish at 2:30pm. Flexible hybrid working.
* The kind of culture that is hard to find and easy to stay in.
Who will thrive here:
* You have a science background molecular biology, immunology, medical science, biotech etc.
* You have genuine product management experience with physical products and you know the difference between owning a portfolio and supporting one.
* You have done your own marketing - written copy, built collateral, run campaigns
* You are highly organised and comfortable in lean environments
* You understand that the best commercial relationships are built slowly, and you have the patience and the discipline to build them properly.
This is a physical product and distribution management role within the diagnostics and life sciences sector. Candidates from software, SaaS or digital product management backgrounds will not be considered
