ACCIONA Energia is looking for a motivated and analytical Junior Spot Trader to join our Physical Markets team. This is a rare opportunity to launch your career in energy markets while contributing to Australia’s renewable energy future.
Our growing generation portfolio includes five wind farms producing 600MW, with exciting recent additions on the horizon — including the MacIntyre Wind Farm (923MW), set to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Aldoga Solar Farm (380MW).
About the Role
As a Junior Spot Trader, you’ll support real-time market operations and performance optimisation across ACCIONA’s renewable energy portfolio. You’ll work closely with teams in Australia and Spain, gaining hands-on experience in the National Electricity Market (NEM), bidding strategies, and market analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with daily spot market activities and market desk coverage
- Monitor market conditions and report insights to senior management
- Collaborate with operations, control room, and site teams
- Participate in a rotating roster (including weekends and varied shifts)
- Ensure compliance with market rules and protocols
About You
- Exposure to the National Electricity Market particularly in wholesale markets or tangentially related fields (e.g. risk, settlements etc.). No prior trading experience required.
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics, finance, science, or engineering fields.
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
