Bower Ecology is a small, values-driven ecological consultancy that partners with clients across urban development, infrastructure, and mine rehabilitation sectors. We specialise in vegetation and wildlife surveys, ecological monitoring, conservation planning, and strategic project advice.
We're looking for a new team member with ecological experience who’s ready to step into a role that blends fieldwork, reporting, strategy, and project coordination.
We're a close-knit team of 10, led by a consulting ecologist with over 20 years' experience. Most of us work remotely, but we stay well connected via Microsoft Teams and regular field trips. Our Brisbane office (inner south) is available for those who prefer a hybrid setup.
We value flexibility, open communication, and a supportive work environment where professional growth is encouraged. Whether you bring a strong technical background, great project management skills, or a knack for systems thinking — you'll be in good company.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who combines ecological knowledge with attention to detail and confidence in coordinating projects and people. Fieldwork is a key part of the job (typically a few days at a time), with all hours paid — including travel.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who:
* Communicate clearly and professionally
* Take initiative and ownership
* Are looking to grow in both technical and strategic capacities
* Strong project coordination skills — including client communication, delegation, and timeline management
* Understanding of QLD, NSW, and Commonwealth ecological legislation and associated reporting/survey requirements
* Ability to understand both client and regulator perspectives
* Botanical or ecological survey skills (fauna experience not essential, but collaboration is welcome)
* GIS proficiency for data processing and map preparation
* Professional report writing and Microsoft Word/Excel skills
* Strong safety awareness in fieldwork settings
Qualifications & Requirements
* Degree in ecology, environmental science, conservation planning, or similar
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in an ecological role
* Minimum 2 years’ project management experience
If this sounds like a fit, we’d love to hear from you.
