Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented 3D CAD Designer/Draftsperson to join our growing team. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing designs and detailed technical drawings for manufacturing of custom truck bodies and associated equipment.
Working closely with management, workshop staff, and customers, this role plays a key part in ensuring projects are accurately designed, efficiently manufactured, and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed 3D CAD drawings and detailed technical drawings for the manufacture and assembly of truck bodies and associated fabrication projects.
* Interpret customer requirements, specifications, and engineering details.
* Produce workshop parts drawings, assembly layouts, and manufacturing documentation.
* Modify and update drawings as required throughout project stages to "as built".
* Work closely with production staff to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
* Assist with product development and custom design solutions.
* Maintain drawing records, revision control, and project documentation.
* Liaise with suppliers, engineers, and customers when required.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety requirements.
* Support estimating and quotation processes with technical information.
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience as a Draftsperson, CAD Designer, or Technical Drawer in manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, or automotive industries.
* Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar.
* Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Reverse engineering and measuring skills.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* Experience within truck body building, heavy vehicle, or transport industries highly regarded.
* Relevant drafting, engineering, or design qualification preferred (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering).
