About the Role

As the Director of Allied Health with Challenge Community Services, reporting to the CEO, you'll provide senior leadership to a multidisciplinary team of Psychologists, Social Workers and Behavior Support Practitioners, delivering high-quality, evidence-based services that support positive outcomes for individuals and families.

Based in Tamworth or Maitland, this leadership role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, strategic direction and growth of Allied Health services. You'll work closely with senior leaders across the organisation to strengthen service quality, expand capability, and embed person-centred, trauma-informed and positive behavior support practices.

You'll lead a skilled and values-driven workforce, oversee clinical governance and service performance, and build strong partnerships that enhance service delivery for children, young people and adults across our communities.

Duties

* Lead and manage Allied Health teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based services
* Provide strategic and operational leadership aligned with organisational priorities.
* Drive service growth, innovation and continuous improvement across Allied Health.
* Oversee clinical governance, quality assurance, compliance and risk management
* Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to strengthen service delivery
* Support workforce capability through supervision, mentoring and professional development.
* Monitor service performance, budgets and key metrics to ensure sustainability and impact
* Promote a collaborative, values-based culture across multidisciplinary teams

Skills and Experience

Essential

* Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, allied health, health, disability, human services or a related discipline, with eligibility for professional registration where applicable.
* Senior leadership experience (five years or more) leading multidisciplinary Allied Health teams.
* Proven capability to lead in complex, fast-changing environments, demonstrating sound judgement, adaptability and strategic decision-making across competing priorities.
* Demonstrated experience overseeing budgets, financial performance and resource allocation to ensure service sustainability and impact.
* Strong understanding of health, disability and community services policy, legislation and regulatory frameworks, including funding environments such as the NDIS or similar commissioning models.
* Experience embedding governance, compliance, quality and safeguarding requirements into clinical and operational practice.
* Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships, referral pathways and collaborative service models that enhance service delivery and outcomes.
* Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to use data to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Desirable

* Contemporary clinical knowledge across psychology and allied health, including experience supporting children and adults with intellectual disability, complex communication and behavioural support needs, and developmental or complex trauma.
* Experience in the design, delivery, or oversight of individual and group-based therapeutic interventions within multidisciplinary service settings.
* Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis and other evidence-based therapeutic models relevant to disability and complex needs services.
* Experience working within NDIS, child-safe, or other regulated human services environments, including familiarity with clinical governance expectations.
* Established professional networks and sector relationships that support services development, innovation, and partnership oppoortunities.
