AOD Case Workers - Healthy Families & Youth Services

The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1992(NT). 3 Full Time positions available (1 in Youth Services, 2 in Healthy Families)

Berrimah, NT

CAAPS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation delivering a range of important community services to people through activities and services that reflect our CORE values of caring, openness, respect and empowerment. You will be part of an exciting program delivering a new approach to providing AOD Services.

About the positions

We are seeking someone to provide case support to participants of CAAPS AOD treatment programs aimed at empowerment, enhaced engagement and motivation towards recvoery of participants and their families.

Some of your responsibilities will be to:

- Provide case management support to clients through the utilisation of principles that underpin case management.
- Establish robust therapeutic relationships with clients, and ensuring clients engage in all CAAPS activities associated with CAAPS treatment (programs, activities, group work, cultural activities, and engagement with external services).
- Coordinate and support clients to achieve assessed treatment goals, toward addressing life challenges and enhancing wellbeing.
- Focus on relationship building within a culturally safe and trauma informed approach.
- Provide high quality support to focus on recovery using a relational, trauma informed approach aimed at long-term sustainable outcomes, including follow up and aftercare.
- Always maintain an awareness of client’s needs and wellbeing, including participation in internal handover procedures, assisting with medication and provision of transport.
- Data entry and reporting in line with reporting requirements and as requested by Management, including formal written reports and up to date entry of case notes and referrals.

Your skills, experience and qualifications include:

- Minimum Diploma of Alcohol & Other Drug/Community Services/Youth work.
- Experience in effectively delivering community services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated ability to modify communication styles and techniques to meet clients needs (multilingual ability an advantage)
- Demonstarted ability to work positively both as part of a multidisciplinary team and with individuals
- Demonstrated written communication, competent administrative and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills including MS Suite, email, data collection/input
- Dedicated and careful; high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Sound knowledge of the issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Demonstrated understanding of current issues impacting the delivery of AOD treatment for individuals and families affected by substance misuse.
- A sound knowledge of current local and national strategies related to the AOD field.
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current NT Driver’s License (minimum C Class)
- Current Criminal History Check
- Current Ochre Card (Category E)
- Mandatory Reporting Certificate
- Ability to produce a negative drug screen result on commencement, and maintain a drug-free lifestyle
