Primary objective
As the Project Manager, manage the delivery of a diverse range of construction projects across Capital Works, Minor New Works,
Repairs and Maintenance, and Urgent Minor Repair programs for various client agencies within the region. Provide high-level
specialist advice in the building discipline to management, clients, and other project managers to ensure effective, compliant, and
value-driven project outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Contribute to the development of client building programs by preparing project scopes, cost estimates, and feasibility
assessments for future projects under consideration by client agencies.
1. Manage investigations, project design, procurement, documentation, contract administration, and financial management to
ensure projects are delivered in accordance with client requirements for time, cost, and quality.
1. Ensure all projects comply with the Northern Territory Building Act, Building Code of Australia, and relevant Australian
Standards as applied in the NT.
1. As a manager of construction projects, deliver assigned Capital Works, Minor New Works, and Repairs and Maintenance
projects in the region, meeting client requirements for time, cost, and quality in accordance with briefs provided by client
departments.
1. Provide professional and technical advice to clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders, maintaining effective
communication and positive working relationships.
1. Identify and manage project risks, monitor progress, and provide accurate and timely project reporting and recommendations
to management and clients.
1. Travel (including driving solo) to regional and remote project sites as required to manage and monitor project delivery.
2. Carry out all duties in accordance with departmental Work Health and Safety (WHS), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO),
and environmental management guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent; or extensive relevant experience in a field of
technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
1. High-level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare project documentation, reports, and
correspondence.
1. High-level knowledge of building industry design, construction, and maintenance management principles and practices.
2. Demonstrated ability to plan, procure, and manage projects and contracts effectively to achieve agreed outcomes.
3. High level of current knowledge and expertise in project management, together with a thorough understanding of WHS
Regulations, NT Building Act, Building Code of Australia, and Australian Standards as applied in the NT.
1. Well-developed information technology skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet software, and project
management or design tools.
1. Ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
2. Current Driver's Licence or ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Diploma in Building Project Management, Government Contract Management, or a similar discipline.
