The Senior Applied Scientist position sits within the Innovation portfolio, where cross-disciplinary teams of data- and computer-scientists, engineers, and strategists work together to research, design, build, and support projects and services across the Spectrum Management, Electromagnetic Warfare (EW), and Information Warfare (IW) domains.

Essential Knowledge And Skills
You are an active researcher in a relevant discipline (behavioural science, applied mathematics, or data science, for example) with a social science focus, and are passionate about developing and applying leading-edge theory and technology to real-world problems in the national interest. You prefer to work collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams to achieve complex objectives.
* Science - Contribute to the organisation's research goals by leading and conducting research into approaches for identifying information/influence campaigns, forecasting their reach and impact, understanding effects in the human/social context, and exploring ways of countering influence campaigns. Specify and apply techniques in social network modelling and analysis, social media modelling and analysis, and information campaign analysis. Participate in the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of concept and user evaluations.
* Leadership - Lead research initiatives and provide motivation and inspiration to other staff members. Lead and participate in team meetings and activities, work reviews to deliver overall benefit to team goals. Lead and collaborate in reviews of work with others. Participate in reviews of, and identify and report issues and risks associated with, own work as appropriate.
* Engagement - Establish strategic and working relationships within the company and with external organisations. Set up and foster research collaboration initiatives, including proposals for external funding, across research institutions and disciplines. Engage with clients and end-users to shape concepts and conduct user evaluations.
* Communication - Communicate fluently, orally and in writing, to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Self and Staff Development - Maintain knowledge and awareness in relevant fields by conducting research and professional development. Recognise the boundaries of your expertise and seek collaboration with other specialists. Provide mentoring to research and development staff where appropriate.
* Teamwork - Work effectively with others to foster idea exchange and leverage diverse expertise.
* Motivation - Have a strong desire to learn and understand new concepts, technologies, and methods.
