About Learning Clubs
Learning Clubs are safe, fun, and supportive environments where students participate in educational activities or receive help with their schoolwork from dedicated tutors outside of regular school hours.
Becoming a tutor gives you the chance to support young people experiencing poverty with their educational and personal development, helping them keep up in class and succeed at school.
You'll be working with volunteers who possess excellent interpersonal skills, including strong communication abilities, a friendly attitude, and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
The key responsibilities of a tutor include:
* Assisting students in completing homework tasks
* Helping students develop skills and knowledge in particular subject areas through structured activities
* Modeling and encouraging appropriate behavioral standards and building positive relationships with students
* Club set up and pack down, including tables, chairs, resources, and fruit
* Liaising with the Club Coordinator on students' support needs and progress
We seek a volunteer commitment of 12 hours (once per week) for a minimum of two school terms (around 18 weeks).
Clubs typically run just after school finishes. If you have a passion for supporting young Australians in their academic and social development, we would love to hear from you.
