Emotion21 is a program of the Inclusion Foundation and provides Australian-first, innovative dance and fitness programs for children and adults living with Down syndrome. Through dance, fitness, performance-based activities, and community engagement, emotion21 aims to enhance the lives of people with Down syndrome and change perceptions of Down syndrome within society.
We are looking for passionate, experienced, committed teachers to join our wonderful team of professional Dance Teachers to continue delivering a world leading program. You will be responsible for teaching and training a dynamic group of participants with down syndrome in a range of techniques and dance styles, ensuring that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals in their chosen area of dance.
Position responsibilities
Skill Development and Support:
* Has an enhanced working knowledge / or interest to develop knowledge of working with people with a disability to reach their goals and aspirations.
* Ability to teach using various dance styles and methodologies
* Understands people's health/medical needs and adjusts teaching to suit, providing alternative options as required.
* Develop dance curriculums and prepare lesson plans.
* Evaluate student performance for NDIS one to one meetings and make recommendations for improvement.
* Choreograph routines and select music for classes and concerts.
* Conduct group and private lessons as required.
* Keep up to date in your discipline and implement any changes to the dance routines and curriculum as needed.
Participation and Inclusion:
* Provide opportunities for people with disability to attain their dance goals and to improve their skills.
* Support participants and their family/carers in achieving goals and aspirations.
* Develop dance routines that include all participants and build on their skills.
* Engage, encourage, and motivate participants to be involved in dance routines.
* Provide a fun, inclusive, and creative environment.
Community Engagement and Education:
* Knowledge of our community networks and relevant services.
* Present people with disability positively in the community.
* Educate the community through proactively engaging and networking with staff from community organisations, community groups and with volunteers.
Reporting, Documentation and Administration:
* Adheres to reporting, documentation, and administrative requirements.
* Accurate and timely records management that maintains participant confidentiality and privacy.
* Ensures the weekly attendance record and any other documentation is completed for each session.
* Assists with implementing agreed changes within the program.
* Ensures choreography and routines are completed ready prior to each dance class.
Position requirements
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
* Experience working with people with a disability is valuable but not essential, training and support is offered.
* Bachelor's degree / Diploma or equivalent experience in dance/ dance teaching
* Previous teaching experience required.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
* Demonstrate patience and leadership skills.
* First Aid and CPR
* $10 Million Liaibilty insurance.
Employment screenings:
* NDIS screening check (or willing to obtain)
* WWCC (or willing to obtain)
Special conditions and requirements:
* Work out of hours may be required (such as performances).
