We are seeking a Mental Health Specialist to join our team on a part-time, ongoing basis. Reporting clinically to the specialist and operationally to area managers, this role plays an important role in supporting persons at risk of death by suicide, those who express suicidal ideation or post-suicide attempt.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake psycho-social interventions and therapies addressing drivers of suicidality for a period of 3 months
* Engage high-risk groups including indigenous people, men, women, youth, older persons, LGBTIQ+, CALD and those affected by natural disasters and COVID-19
* Provide comprehensive suicide and self-harm assessment for clients referred from emergency departments, general hospital wards or community teams
The successful applicants will have:
* Relevant clinical experience in mental health services with well-developed organisational skills
* Expertise in assessing and formulating suicide and self-risk and developing safety plans addressing suicide drivers and lethal means interventions
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and liaise with other consumers, staff members and relevant agencies
