Job Description
Rocks Farming Company (RFC) is generational business starting with its beginnings in the cattle industry in the early 1900's on the Rocks Station. In 1989 it began sugarcane farming on the original property in the newly established Burdekin River Irrigation Area scheme and has grown to one of the largest sugarcane producers in Australia.
Currently the business grows 275,000 tonnes of sugar cane on 2700ha of irrigated cane farming land along with cattle on some of the original property which is not suited to irrigated farming. The main sections of RFC are Sugarcane, Farm Development, Earth Moving, and Beef Cattle. Each one of these sections is managed to perform at its best.
RFC utilises the latest technology available in the agricultural sector to farm as efficiently as possible and minimise waste. We are seeking to employ experienced Truck Drivers to join our friendly and hardworking team. You will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to you, as well as working closely with our team of dispatchers in order to plan routes and track deliveries.
Key duties include but are not limited to: Safely operate trucks to transport goods, raw materials, or equipment Perform pre-trip, enroute, and post-trip inspections of tires, lights, brakes, and fuel to ensure safety
Maintain accurate logbooks, including hours of service (HOS), mileage, and fuel consumption Estimate weights to comply with load limitations and ensure safe distribution of weight Loading, unloading, and securing cargo to prevent damage during transport
Use appropriate mapping tools to plan efficient routes and avoid traffic, construction, or weather delays Communicates with dispatchers and other truck drivers to coordinate deliveries Perform routine maintenance on the truck, such as checking oil and tyre pressure
Report mechanical issues to maintenance personnel To be considered for this role, you must have: Minimum 3 years’ working experience in the same field
Valid Commercial Driver’s Licence (CDL) A clean driving record with no major moving violations Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy, awkward loads when required
