Community Health Educator
This is a role within our Community Education and Engagement Team. The primary objective is to deliver health promotion initiatives to Indigenous people in the Darwin Region.
* Develop and implement smoking cessation programs tailored to Indigenous communities.
* Collaborate with schools and community groups to promote healthy lifestyles.
* Deliver educational presentations and activities at various events.
* Engage with families to promote smoke-free households.
* Support the development of tobacco control social marketing campaigns.
* Work closely with stakeholders to enhance smoking control outcomes.
* Attend workshops and training sessions to improve program effectiveness.
* Collect data to inform program evaluation and quit smoking strategies.

* Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with Aboriginal people from diverse backgrounds, sensitive to their culture, history, and current challenges.
* Strong organisational skills to manage tasks, resources, and timelines.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handling pressure and meeting deadlines.
* Confident presentation skills and ability to engage with various audiences.
* Effective communication skills for interacting with administrative staff, medical professionals, and external agencies.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and client information systems.
* Experience working in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.
* Certificate qualifications in Community Services or equivalent.
* Proven experience in delivering community education and health promotion events.
