The role
As the Systems and Platform Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for developing the Department into a high‐performing and innovative organisation. You will:
* Design, implement, provide operational support, and manage the life‐cycle of the Department's business platforms and ICT foundation systems across on‐premise and cloud environments.
* Contribute to a stable, scalable, optimised, resilient, well‐documented, and sustainable ICT architecture aligned with business objectives.
* Promote infrastructure principles across ICT operations and project activities.
Your responsibilities include administering Windows Server and Linux environments within a large distributed on‐premise network with significant cloud integration, and driving infrastructure scripting and automation including Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Proficiency with PowerShell and Bash is expected, along with a solid understanding of cloud computing fundamentals, pipelines, DevOps practices, GitHub, and AzureCLI. Strong written communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience administering Windows Server and Linux in a large distributed on‐premise network with cloud services (installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, tuning, backup and recovery).
* Experience in infrastructure scripting and automation, including IaC; proficiency with PowerShell and Bash.
* Proficiency in cloud computing fundamentals, pipelines, DevOps practices, GitHub, and AzureCLI.

Eligibility and pre‐employment checks
To be eligible for permanent appointment, applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia. A nationally coordinated criminal history check (NCCHC) is required and LGIRS will coordinate and pay for it if selected.
