THE HEART RESEARCH INSTITUTE (HRI) is an internationally recognised medical research institute that performs cutting‐edge cardiovascular research from state‐of‐the‐art facilities in Newtown, Sydney, and the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC) at The University of Sydney. The Role
The Individual Giving and Development Specialist reports to the Head of Retention, Regular and Mid‐Level Giving. The role is responsible for driving regular donations from new and existing supporters, implementing innovative donor acquisition and retention strategies, and managing campaigns such as the regular Christmas and Tax Appeals and the HRI lotteries program. The Specialist will collaborate with Development, Philanthropy, research teams and external partners to build a healthy pipeline of donors who make strong financial contributions over their lifetime.
Specific Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of the HRI Regular and Single giving programmes.
* Support the delivery of regular Appeals, identifying opportunities to bring innovative and compelling campaigns to market that break the mould and encourage generous gifts.
* Prepare rigorous analysis and reporting, including data on acquisition and retention, identifying opportunities to improve and elevate donor commitment and revenue over time.
* Segment the database and develop compelling campaign platforms to drive revenue.
* Develop and implement creative and effective donor journeys and donor retention strategies.
* Continuously seek cost savings and opportunities to refine the programmes you manage.
* Collaborate with colleagues to manage and inspire consultants and partner organisations to acquire and retain donors, re‐engage lapsed donors and uplift existing donors and associated revenue.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in a similar role or in a revenue‐generating programme.
* Experience managing and scaling regular giving programmes.
* Capacity to build strong relationships with colleagues and donors.
* Strong problem‐solving skills, ability to take calculated risks, meet deadlines, manage competing priorities and exercise initiative with a can‐do attitude.
* A strategic mind and the ability to develop and implement effective programmes and retention strategies.
* Experience in lead generation, acquisition and retention programmes.
* Analytical skills with the capacity to work with the Business Analytics and Data team to understand data, identify insights and refine programmes.
* Highly motivated, organised, flexible and adaptable with an appetite for change and continual learning.
* Resilience, high level of emotional maturity and ability to adapt to change.
* Alignment with HRI values of Excellence, Curiosity, Teamwork, Transparency and Inclusivity.
* Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Marketing, Strategy, Creative Innovation or Arts are highly regarded.
