The Role Working within an agile team environment, the Senior Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist collaborates to develop and implement innovative and effective learning solutions for CASA, including developing proposed strategies and the design, development and continuous improvement of comprehensive learning solutions for the organisation.
The Senior L&D Specialist produces high quality learning solutions requiring little or no revision prior to finalisation. This role may also involve facilitating learning solutions.
The Senior L&D Specialist contributes to aviation safety by enhancing capability, capacity and service delivery across the organisation, through the development, implementation and continuous improvement of learning solutions for the organisation.
The Senior L&D Specialist is required to work autonomously, exercising a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction, undertaking work that is complex in nature in order to deliver on section, branch and CASA outcomes.
The Senior L&D Specialist is responsible for the following deliverables, which represent an ongoing body of work:
o Consult with Key Stakeholders to:
+ determine specific training needs, requirements and skill gaps
+ support the ongoing development of capabilities in CASA
+ review, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of learning and development programs
o Provide professional advice on the suitability and effectiveness of learning solutions and evaluation strategies to meet identified training needs.
o Actively develop, maintain and manage key stakeholder relationships within and outside of CASA to deliver agreed outcomes.
o Manage complex problems and supervise a team during the conduct of projects, coordinating and managing detailed or sensitive activities that impact on operational outcomes for CASA.
o Achieve training outcomes by developing innovative, effective and engaging learning initiatives, leveraging modern learning technologies and delivery methods.
o Conduct quality assurance reviews of learning solutions developed by Branch staff and interfacing business units.
o Lead continuous improvement initiatives by applying feedback, learning analytics, and user experience design principles.
o Utilise data and learning analytics to assess effectiveness, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision making.
o Propose and facilitate innovative initiatives and contribute to business improvement strategies and change in workplace practices.
o Implement and/or facilitate effective and engaging eLearning, face to face and blended learning solutions to achieve identified training outcomes.
o Provide inputs into the planning and prioritisation of team and branch work activities.
o Lead and develop other Learning and Development Specialists, fostering a culture of psychological safety, innovation, and accountability.
o Build capacity through coaching others, providing performance feedback, minimising and resolving conflict.
o Empower and provide direction to support CASA’s employees.
o Collaborate to design new, innovative and relevant learning solutions.
o Promote workplace safety, equity and diversity, and act in accordance with the CASA Values and Behaviours.
o As an employee, contribute to maintaining a positive health and safety culture at CASA, including psychosocial wellbeing in the workplace and will provide my input, where appropriate, to decisions that may impact upon my health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
o As a leader you will support CASA to establish and maintain a positive health and safety culture, including psychosocial wellbeing, in the workplace and to consult with workers and others when making decisions that may impact upon the health, safety and wellbeing of those in the workplace.
Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate must demonstrate the following:
o Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or recognised equivalent (mandatory)
o Experience in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development programs, preferably in a technically complex environment
o Demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and practice, including experience developing blended learning solutions
o Experience in managing teams, particularly during the development and delivery of learning solutions
o Have well developed analytical, research and decision-making skills to support completion of activities and to deliver defined outcomes
o Excellent (written and oral) communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders
o Experience in facilitating learning solutions (training programs and/or modules) in both face-to-face and virtually (via webinar) environments
o Experience in using eLearning authoring tools to develop engaging learning solutions.
