Exciting opportunity for an intern/graduate to intermediate Town Planner to join Martens & Associates' team of motivated professionals and work on a wide range of projects. The position is based in Hornsby in Sydney's north.

ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a talented intern / graduate to intermediate level Town Planner to join our busy multidisciplinary engineering office based in Hornsby, NSW.
The position presents an excellent opportunity to be exposed to town planning services in a busy professional engineering consultancy with a wide range of projects. It is also an excellent opportunity to start a career with successful interns offered an opportunity for continued employment.
The intern position will provide the successful candidate exposure to town planning work on a wide range of projects, to support engineers, project managers and directors to:
* Prepare planning reports including SEE, EIS and REF.
* Prepare and lodge development applications, planning proposals, modification applications and building information certificate applications.
* Provide planning advice including project approvals strategy, land use characterisation, development capability and due diligence assessments.
* Liaise with and respond to client, consultant and Council queries.
Internships are offered on a 6 month full time basis. On successful completion of internships, opportunities may exist for continued full time employment while finalising studies.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking candidates that take pride in their work, have a positive attitude, are punctual, reliable, hardworking and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
It is ESSENTIAL for the applicants to:
* Be graduated from or enrolled in the later part of a town planning degree (or a closely related field) from a university in NSW.
* Principle knowledge of the NSW planning framework and approvals system.
* Good written and verbal communication and proficient report and business writing skills in English.
* The ability to work in a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team environment.
* Positive and proactive attitude and be motivated, team player, organised and eager to learn.
* High level of skills in MS Office, particularly in MS Word and Outlook.
It is FAVOURABLE for the applicants to have any of the following experiences and qualities:
* Local (NSW) experience in statutory town planning, either in local government sector or in private consultancy.
* Experience in multidisciplinary consultancy, especially in land development and planning proposal projects in NSW.
* Experience in environmental planning in NSW including Water Management Act matters and Land Contamination.
* Ability to liaise, engage and coordinate with project stakeholders and negotiate with authorities.
* Experience with GIS software packages (QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.).
* NSW full driver licence.
