Sunbury Downs College is a vibrant Year 7 to 12 co-educational secondary college situated in the semi-rural of Sunbury. It is a growing co-educational secondary college with student enrolment numbers around 650.

The College offers an Accelerated Curriculum and Enrichment (ACE) program, extending students through a challenging curriculum including early commencement of VCE. The ACE program is a select entry course with enrolment from the feeder primary schools, for students in Years 7-9. The College also offers a Scholars program for students in Years 10 and 11 to provide students with a range of opportunities in the Later Years. The College is an accredited International Student Program provider.

Sunbury Downs College offers a wide range of inclusive activities and programs which cater to all students in Years 7-12. Some of these include Debating and Public Speaking, Maths Club, Drama Club and Choir. The College also has a House and Sports program with whole school carnivals for Athletics and Swimming. There are Year Level and specialised camps and excursions. The College has a well-established Student Voice program with an enthusiastic Student Voice and Captaincy team. The College offers instrumental music tuition and presents a highly acclaimed Musical Production, enabling students to excel in the Performing Arts in an environment that fosters participation, responsibility and teamwork outside the classroom.

Sunbury Downs College is proud to be in partnership with its community with local organisations and agencies providing support for its students. Some of these partnerships include feeder schools, local businesses and many universities, including the University of Melbourne. The school acknowledges that it is the links with the outside world that extends the offerings for students and community.

Sunbury Downs Secondary College currently has a leadership profile consisting of Principal, 3 Assistant Principals, 6 Leading Teachers and 2 Learning Specialists which is being expanded. There are approximately 55 classroom teachers, 4 Paraprofessionals and 26 Education Support staff.

**Selection Criteria**:
KSC1. Suitable qualifications and/or experience in psychology, youth work or a well-being field.

KSC2. Understanding of common approaches, policies, programs and research relating to student wellbeing in a senior year's school setting.

KSC3. Experience in the delivery of student and family wellbeing services in a relevant setting, and preferably, experience working with students, teachers, families and external agencies in the area of student wellbeing.

KSC4. Demonstrated experience in the coordination of services and the provision of information, support and consultation.

KSC 5. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and network with the wide range of people within the education and wider community.

KSC6. Demonstrated ability to design, deliver or coordinate professional development in the area of student, family or youth wellbeing.

**Role**:
The key roles of Position of Responsibility holders may include but are not limited to:

- working with a team on the implementation of whole school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities
- working with at least one Annual Implementation Plan team to develop, implement and evaluate strategies to meet agreed goals

The Youth Worker/Health worker will work with Student Engagement and Wellbeing to plan, implement and review the Student Engagement and Wellbeing area of the Annual Implementation Plan

The Youth Worker will:

- work with school leaders to lead programs that address needs and promote student engagement and wellbeing
- work with Student Services team to appropriately document support for students and provide timely information as relevant to staff
- work with staff to undertake successful meetings with parents and other relevant groups to meet student needs
- liaise with DET and external services to further support students
- counsel and support students
- work with staff to develop positive relationship with students
- work with staff to provide optimum learning environments for students
- communicate appropriately with parents/carers and external support
- maintain appropriate documentation including confidentiality as relevant
- other duties as required by the Principal.
