Join our Design & Survey Services team and play a key role in delivering high‐quality, cost‐effective civil design / engineering and CADD design solutions that support Council's operational branches and external clients. This is a leadership role for an experienced civil designer / engineer who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and is passionate about driving quality, innovation and continuous improvement.
What we're looking for
We're seeking a tertiary‐qualified Civil Designer with strong experience in the design and documentation of roads, traffic, stormwater drainage and related civil infrastructure. You'll bring an extensive working knowledge of 12D, AutoCAD and associated design software, along with proven experience managing a diverse civil engineering design office. You're someone who can balance technical excellence with effective project, people and stakeholder management, ensuring designs are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard. Your communication and negotiation skills enable you to work collaboratively across teams, and you're confident leading and mentoring staff while fostering a culture of quality, efficiency and continuous improvement. RPEQ registration and experience in areas such as parks, municipal structures, subdivision design or water/wastewater infrastructure will be highly regarded.
What you'll be doing
* Deliver detailed Civil and CADD design across transport, drainage, landscape, structures, recreational facilities, electrical/mechanical services and water/wastewater.
* Provide engineering analysis, interpretation, design review and high‐quality technical reporting.
* Ensure accurate corporate information management and adherence to record‐keeping requirements.
* Support development, implementation and maintenance of third‐party quality accreditation and Service Level Agreements.
* Promote best‐practice design methods, technical standards and industry guidelines.
* Lead, guide and support technical and professional staff, fostering a quality and continuous improvement culture.
* Contribute to program delivery, project estimates, design reviews and client engagement.
