Thomas Flooring WA Pty Ltd provides quality timber flooring, stairs and carpentry services for commercial and residential clients, property development projects, and carpentry, flooring services and repairs on behalf of insurers.
Position
Due to growth, we seek a Carpenter on a full-time basis. The position is located in Balcatta, WA. Responsibilities include construction and erection of formwork, laying of sub‐flooring and floorboards, forming door and window frames, forming and erection of staircases, forming and erection of decks, and repairs and refurbishment of floors, decks and staircases.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a Certificate III in Carpentry, a minimum of 3 years of full‐time relevant carpentry and flooring experience, and be competent in understanding timber species and interpreting blueprints and plans. They will be able to independently assess site suitability, produce high‐quality work and finishes, run the job autonomously, and adhere to health and safety practices. They will possess abilities in precision cutting, assembling, nailing, joining, forming, floor sanding and coating, and be physically fit to crawl, climb, kneel, squat, bend and reach overhead, lift up to 40kgs, and use hand and power tools, including braze and solder equipment. The candidate should be self‐motivated, organised, reliable, have a strong work ethic, be a team player and capable of working autonomously.
Qualifications and Skills
* Certificate III in Carpentry
* Minimum 3 years of full‐time relevant carpentry and flooring experience
* Competent in understanding timber species and interpreting blueprints/plans
* Ability to independently assess site suitability prior to the job
* Ability to produce high‐quality work and finishes
* Ability to independently run the job
* Competent in applying health and safety practices
* Precision cutting, assembling, nailing, joining, forming, floor sanding and coating skills
* Understanding of the construction industry and the Building Code of Australia
* Physical fitness for crawling, climbing, kneeling, squatting, bending and reaching overhead
* Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40kgs and regularly move objects weighing 20 to 30kgs
* Good eyesight and ability to work on ladders
* Competence with hand and power tools, and ability to use braze and solder equipment as needed
* Self‐motivated, organised, reliable, great work ethic, team player, and capable of working autonomously
Remuneration
The remuneration package consists of a base salary of $85,000 per annum plus superannuation.
