About the role
Baadi Nidjbaal Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters and Trades Assistants to join our team in Karratha, WA. This is a casual role that will play a key part in the maintenance and repair of mining machinery and equipment at our site. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently through the provision of high-quality maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities -
Perform mechanical fitting and maintenance tasks during plant shutdowns
Dismantle, inspect, and install chute systems and wear liners
Cut, grind, and shape liner plates (rubber, ceramic, or steel)
Interpret mechanical drawings and shutdown scopes
Use hand and power tools, oxy/acetylene, and sometimes gouging equipment
Ensure all work complies with site safety and isolation procedures
Collaborate with supervisors and boilermakers as part of a shutdown team
What we're looking for
Formal qualifications in Mechanical Fitter/Mechanical Maintenance or a related trade
Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a mining or heavy industrial environment
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair a range of equipment
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring equipment
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Current driver's licence and willing to undergo a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
