Key Responsibilities
Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, and studio sessions.
Provide hands-on training and support in clinical procedures, patient-care techniques, and professional practices.
Provide direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to students during their clinical placements, ensuring a positive learning experience and promoting the development of clinical competencies.
Monitor progress of students, assessing their clinical skills, knowledge, and competency.
Provide constructive feedback and identify areas for improvement, creating individualized development plans where necessary.
Identify students who may be struggling or at risk of underperforming, assess their needs, and collaborate with the clinical education team and site supervisor to develop appropriate support strategies.
Work closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure the integration of education with patient-care standards.
Communicate effectively with educational institutions, clinical teams, and management regarding training needs and performance outcomes for students.
Support and contribute to quality-improvement initiatives by identifying gaps in clinical training or practice and recommending improvements.
Maintain up-to-date records of training, assessments, and student progress.
Ensure that educational materials, resources, and equipment are available, relevant, and in line with current healthcare practices.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with clinical advancements and educational methodologies.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Relevant tertiary degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health, or another relevant healthcare discipline.
Postgraduate qualifications in clinical education highly desirable.
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Significant clinical experience with at least 5 years of practical experience in a clinical setting.
Extensive clinical supervision and teaching/mentoring or preceptorship experience within clinical or academic settings.
Demonstrated understanding of clinical education frameworks, assessment strategies, and competency-based education.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven experience collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, engaging with students, and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment.
Ability to deliver high-quality learning and teaching practices across multiple modes.
