About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands‐on role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising a broad range of HVAC and refrigeration systems across a remote island site. You'll oversee routine maintenance, troubleshoot system issues, update asset records, and use the MEX system to manage and complete monthly job schedules. You'll also support a stable team of local employees to ensure cold rooms, freezers, fresh air units, and split systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Roster and Location
* 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off
* 12 hour day shifts (0600 to 1800) with a structured 6-on / 1-off weekly rhythm
* Work in a unique island environment with two HVAC techs on site at all times
* Mentor and support a stable team of local employees
* FIFO from Brisbane
* Based at the Nauru Regional Processing Centre
* Accommodation, meals and travel provided while on swing
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and replacements on HVAC and refrigeration systems
* Service and troubleshoot cold rooms, freezers, fresh air systems, and split systems
* Maintain and update the asset register to ensure accurate equipment tracking
* Use the MEX maintenance system to record work, close out tasks, and manage job workflows
* Complete a monthly job list within the required timeframes
* Work collaboratively with the second on‐site HVAC Technician to ensure full coverage
* Provide guidance and support to stable, locally based employees
About You
* Trade qualification in Refrigeration Mechanical HVAC trade or equivalent
* Experience in commercial air conditioning and refrigeration
* Working at Heights and EWP tickets are highly desirable
* Hold or willing to obtain and working with children certification
* Ability to undertake and pass preemployment checks such as Australian Federal Police Check, full physical and health assessment
* Provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 (double vaccinated)
