About the role
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Thrift Shop Manager to effectively and efficiently manage all aspects of the Thrift Shop as an extension of the Christian ministry of Colac Corps. This position will be required to promote and market the Thrift Shop to engage new customers within the community.
You will successfully
- Be responsible for fostering a culture of inclusiveness and community spirit amongst the volunteer team
- Recruit and train new volunteers
- Work with Corps Officers to set and achieve annual budget and track daily sales in line with targets
- Design and implement promotions when required and carry on the existing model of "People over Product."
- Ensure timely management of pick-ups and deliveries of household furniture
- Ensure stock is replenished and regularly rotated according to stock rotation/discount schedule
- Handle cash - cash and credit card transactions, end of day reconciliation and banking
- Ensure all volunteers, TSA employees and visiting contractors follow WHS policies and procedures and that you are demonstrating good WHS practice
This is a permanent part-time position (32 hours per week) located in Colac, VIC. This is an award free role.
You will have
- Retail experience (required)
- Experience recruiting and working with volunteers (required)
- Retail Management experience (highly desirable)
- Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business (desirable)
- Conveys information effectively - verbally and in writing (required)
- Displays an optimistic approach to work (required)
- Completed/Provided First Aid (PFA) training and be willing to be designated First Aid Provider when on site (Appointment to cover cost of First Aid training if certification not already valid, and/or biannual updates)
- Physical ability to safely stand, sit, walk regularly and for long periods of time, push, pull, lift, carry and restrain, climb ladders, and use computer mouse and eftpos machine / undertake other inherent requirements of the role.
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
- A current and valid VIC Employee Working with Children's Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
