Offer description

A-Star Sports Nets is a leading force in Australian sports facilities, specialising in sports netting solutions for elite-level organizations such as AFL Clubs, world-class cricket facilities, private schools, and high-end commercial projects. Based in Melbourne with a growing presence in Sydney, we have a strong track record delivering top-quality netting products and services to ensure the safety and performance of sporting venues nationwide.

Position Overview:

We’re looking for someone who thrives on the tools, not behind a desk. You might be a senior leading hand who’s ready to step into full-fledged leadership as a Site Foreman. You’ve got a hands-on, mechanical mindset, the confidence to tackle any challenge, and you're not afraid to put in the extra time when needed. You lead naturally with an extraverted personality that brings people together. This is a great opportunity to step up and take charge of a small team within a close-knit, fast-paced business.

Our work isn’t your typical construction grind. The sports netting and facility build space moves at a different pace—much more methodical and predictable, with simpler building techniques. It suits those who love working outdoors, appreciate structure and consistency, and want to build a long-term career in a niche industry that feels rewarding and meaningful.

As our Site Foreman, you must have a performance-driven mindset. You’ll be the one keeping projects running on time (or ahead of schedule), driving the works program, and making sure every moving part stays on track. That means working within budget, thinking smart on site, optimising resources, and reducing waste to keep everything flowing smoothly.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing all on-site activities, including civil and structural works like bored piers, pad footings, concrete pours, and crane operations. You’ll manage site set outs, enforce safety procedures, and coordinate with surveyors to ensure flawless execution. While you’ll run the day-to-day operations, you’ll have the support of our General Manager when it comes to tackling technical challenges, refining leadership skills, and managing team performance.

Please note: You must be willing and able to travel interstate at short notice and occasionally be away for up to a week at a time, depending on the nature of our projects. Flexibility and a can-do attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical & On-Site Execution:

Oversee and execute civil and structural works, including bored piers, pad footings, crane lifts, and concrete works.

Conduct and manage site set outs and liaise with site surveyors to ensure accuracy in project execution.

Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, to budget and to high-quality standards.

Troubleshoot on-site issues and implement effective solutions to keep work moving.

2. Site Management & Safety Compliance:

Take full responsibility for on-site safety, ensuring compliance with all regulations, SWMs and JSAs.

Lead pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.

Conduct ongoing project assessments, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Maintain and enforce a high-performance culture, ensuring the team operates at maximum efficiency.

Mentor and develop team members, ensuring a high level of technical skill and work ethic.

Establish and maintain an installer skills matrix including licensing and ticket information.

Set high standards for workmanship, professionalism, and accountability.

Work closely with the General Manager to execute strategic initiatives and process improvements.

Keep a firm grip on deadlines, productivity, and team output, ensuring every project meets expectations.

4. Software & Database Management (Field Operations)

Ensure Tradify and all project management software is used correctly and consistently by the installation team on-site.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date job entries that are easy to read and support efficient tracking, reporting, and decision-making.

Utilise photos, job updates, and clear documentation for every installation to ensure high-quality project execution.

5. Coordination & Communication:

Liaise with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and subcontractors to align work on-site.

Ensure seamless communication between on-site teams and office-based project coordination.

Handle material deliveries, resource allocation, and subcontractor management to maintain site efficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience

Minimum 5+ years as a Site Foreman, Supervisor, or similar role in the civil/construction industry.

A valid manual motor vehicle licence is required to travel between job sites and oversee installations effectively.

Certificate in Construction or Civil Construction preferred

Excavation/plant operator

EWP

High risk (above 11m)

First Aid

Working with Children's Check (School based projects)

Strong technical proficiency in bored piers, concrete works, crane operations, and civil works.

Proven ability to drive team performance, enforce deadlines, and execute initiatives effectively.

Hands-on leadership with a strong presence on-site, ensuring high standards are met daily.

Experience in site safety management, pre-starts, risk assessments, and compliance.

Ability to manage and coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and subcontractors.

A problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and can make critical decisions on the fly.
