Parasitology Research Position
This role involves leading an industry-funded project to investigate key infectious abortions in Victorian sheep and developing novel molecular diagnostics. The position is part-time (0.6 FTE) at the University of Melbourne.
Main Responsibilities
* Conduct field investigations across Victorian farms, collect and analyze biological samples related to infectious diseases.
* Engage with industry stakeholders to identify risk factors and develop strategies for disease management.
* Develop and disseminate findings through publications, conference presentations, and reports.
Required Expertise
* PhD in Veterinary Science or a closely related field.
* Strong research skills, experience in molecular diagnostics, particularly qPCR assay development and validation.
* Passion for improving animal health and welfare through innovative diagnostics and epidemiology.
