Mona's Safety and Wellbeing team works across a wide range of industries—from museums, wineries and restaurants to construction sites, horticulture and recording studios. As the organisation constantly evolves its experiences, spaces, and people, the safety team works closely with every area of the business.
This role will work alongside our current Health and Safety Advisor, a valued team member who is transitioning to retirement, to take over their portfolio and responsibilities.
We are looking for an effective Health and Safety advisor to help develop and maintain a strong organisational safety and wellbeing culture. Your responsibilities will include providing technical advice and innovative solutions to various client groups, creating safety management system documentation, delivering training, and conducting audits.
The Gig:
You will roam across multiple projects and sites to ensure the effective execution of Mona's Health and Safety Management System by:
- Participating in risk management activities, including facilitating risk assessments, contributing to the development of SOPs, conducting control verification and providing advisory services.
- Driving safe systems of work, quality incident investigations and the delivery of visible and felt leadership through the implementation of learning, training, coaching and monitoring client groups.
- Crafting inventive and practical solutions to a diverse array of physical and psychosocial Health and Safety challenges.
- Responding to hazard and incident reports, ensuring information is accurately recorded and resolution activities are responded to efficiently or escalated to the appropriate stakeholder.
- Performing regular reports and detailed analysis of safety and environmental information.
- Championing a positive and robust Health and Safety culture at all levels of the organisation with a particular emphasis on supporting managers and operational leaders.
- Creating end user documentation that is easy to understand and easy to follow.
The You:
- A contemporary health and safety professional with the ability to integrate the safety agenda into the broader organisation objectives in a non-traditional environment
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline (preferred requirement - Diploma)
- Have an engaging and people-focused approach who builds relationships and credibility
- Sound analytical and conceptual skills, strong attention to detail, an investigative and inquisitive mind
- The ability to clearly communicate complex concepts in a straightforward way
- Contemporary knowledge of relevant legislative and compliance requirements with the ability to research and upskill to address knowledge gaps
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Performing risk assessments, physical and psychosocial hazard identification and management.
- Leading incident investigations and debriefing.
- Providing practical Health and Safety advice that can be easily understood and acted upon.
- Creating simple and effective user-focused documentation.
- The use of Safety Management Systems and in producing data to contribute to effective reporting.
- Chemical management and internal auditing experience will be highly regarded
- Willing and able to traverse different physical landscapes indoors and outdoors and withstand limited exposure to noise and strobing lights (e.g. music concerts, art installations).
- Current drivers licence
This role can be 0.8 to 1.0 FTE(30.4 to 38 hours per week). We understand the need for flexibility at work, so we can accommodate flexible daily start and finish times within the weekly hours. While the role is principally on-site, some work from home can be supported.
