headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation. headspace Mildura is a youth friendly facility with the mission of enhancing the emotional and social wellbeing of young people aged 12 to 25 years by providing an accessible, flexible, responsive service at the earliest possible point when problems emerge. Services are provided across four core streams: primary health care, mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD), and social/vocational services.
About the opportunity
headspace Mildura is seeking a Mental Health Clinician with an interest in youth mental health to join the team in a dual role of Engagement & Assessment and Therapeutic Intervention.
The headspace Mildura Mental Health Clinician works under the direction of the headspace Mildura Clinical Lead and Centre Manager with primary duties of:
* Engagement & Assessment
* providing a welcoming first experience, and accurate, comprehensive, and timely triage and assessments for youth accessing headspace Mildura
* facilitating a young person's transition into the most appropriate service, either internally or externally
* Providing evidence-based therapeutic intervention as clinically indicated, including individual therapy, family therapy, and/or group programs
* Engaging and supporting parents and guardians of young people and working closely with schools, universities, TAFEs and other key networks young people may be engaged with.

What we are looking for
* All relevant current licenses, registrations, and memberships for legal practice as a qualified and registered professional within the state of Victoria:
* Psychology
* Social Work
* Occupational Therapy
* Nursing
* Knowledge, experience, and demonstrated passion for, and interest in, the health and welfare issues affecting young people and improving health outcomes.
* Highly developed clinical skills in mental health triage, assessment, planning and intervention, including crisis management.
* Knowledge, skills, and experience in the provision of direct clinical care to young people who have experienced mental illness, including the delivery of contemporary, recovery focused, evidence-based psychological interventions for a range of mental health conditions.
* Care that is respectful, non-judgemental and inclusive.
* Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Current working with children check, national police check and drivers licence.
* Evidence of healthcare worker immunisation or immunity to communicable vaccine-preventable diseases.
Further information
This position is employed by Mildura Base Public Hospital who operates headspace Mildura and will be based onsite at the headspace centre. The successful applicant will work under the direction of headspace Centre Manager, and the Director of Recovery & Wellbeing Services, Mildura Base Public Hospital, ensuring all activities are in accordance with the Grant Agreement and direction provided by headspace National, Murray Primary Health Network, and Department of Health.
