• Ipswich Hospital’s new Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service (MHAIS) has officially opened, providing the local community with a world-class mental health rehabilitation and recovery facility.Purpose-built and with a focus on recovery and social connection, the $104.6 million Ipswich Hospital's Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service state-of-the-art facility includes spaces for adult patients, older and vulnerable patients, and patients requiring more intensive clinical care.
About the role
The Nurse Manager provides expert clinical leadership and management capability within the Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service (MHAIS). The Nurse Manager positively influences the outcome of patient centred care through effective management skill, support and role modelling contemporary best practice and evidence, team building and guiding clinical care and service delivery.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated management experience including financial literacy and capability with an ability and commitment to deliver clinical services collaboratively integrating the broader multidisciplinary health care team in delivering high quality, cost effective, patient centred care.
* Demonstrated expert level of clinical knowledge, expertise and skills in complex contemporary clinical practice, and evidence-based mental health service provision, in relation to adults diagnosed with severe mental illness.
* Work collaboratively within a complex stakeholder and systemic framework with internal Queensland Health Services, and external government, non-government, and private health sector service providers to achieve the best outcomes for the client.
* Demonstrated ability to provide operational leadership, strategic direction, quality improvement and management to a multidisciplinary inpatient mental health setting.
* Current Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 or working towards obtaining.
* Post graduate qualification in mental health nursing would be desirable.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 (PDF) ( )
* Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
