About the School
John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) is located on Wadjuk Boodjar in Walyalup (Fremantle) and caters for 1,700 students from Years 7 to 12. The college offers a broad range of gifted and talented programs in the creative and intellectual domains, including ballet, contemporary dance, drama, media arts, music, music theatre, visual arts, and soccer excellence. It is recognised as a Centre of Excellence in the Arts.
The Role
As a Technical Support Officer – Theatre you will prepare classroom, studio/theatre, and workshop areas to enable teachers to instruct students. You will maintain documentation for all equipment, machinery, and materials in accordance with occupational safety and health requirements.
Suitable applicants will work collaboratively as part of a production team, assisting the operation of school and community events such as assemblies, performances, exhibitions, screenings and promotional events.
Theatre
You will work closely with college staff and the Theatre Manager to support productions and associated events. Responsibilities include stage management, prop sourcing and creation, floor management, set dressing and safe handling of stage equipment. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines and supporting teachers, students and staff in maintaining technical equipment and resources.
Costume
You will assist in conceptualising, designing and constructing costumes for productions, including styling wigs, shoes, accessories, and other wearable items. The role involves hand‐sewing, operating domestic and industrial sewing machines, and, where appropriate, dyeing, fitting, pattern cutting and creating theatrical effects.
