Principal Engineer - Geotechnical - Pivotal leadership position

What you will be doing.
* High-impact leadership role alongside the Regional Manager
* Diverse, international project portfolio across West Africa, Asia, South America, and Australia
* Opportunity to guide a high-performing 20-person team, plus remote site engineers
* Flexibility to focus on technical leadership, client strategy, and people management
* Open to international candidates – sponsorship available
Responsibilities
* Leadership & Team Support
o Act as a key support to the Regional Manager; lead in their absence
o Mentor and develop junior engineers
o Oversee team resourcing, workload and project delivery
o Provide guidance to remote construction teams
* Technical Oversight
o Lead or review design for tailings dams, heap leach pads, and geotechnical infrastructure
o Oversee investigations, testing, design, and risk assessments
o Contribute to construction and closure planning
o Produce and review technical deliverables (reports, specifications, drawings, performance reports)
o Attend inspections, review meetings, and workshops—locally and internationally
* Client Engagement
o Maintain and grow relationships with both local and international clients
o Support proposal writing, bids, and technical presentations
o Represent the company at client meetings and industry events
Requirements
* Chartered Civil or Geotechnical Engineer (or eligible)
* Significant experience in tailings, dams, or mine infrastructure
* Strong technical grounding with leadership potential
* Open to international candidates with relevant experience, who would be motivated to relocate to Australia, where the company will help with visa sponsorship
