They are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive client acquisition and relationship development for energy procurement and sustainability solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work with Australia's most sophisticated energy consumers whilst supporting their energy transition journey.
The Role
As Business Development Manager - Energy Procurement, you will identify, develop, and close business opportunities with large corporate clients requiring energy procurement strategy, cost optimisation, and decarbonisation solutions. This role requires strong B2B/downstream commercial experience, understanding of corporate energy procurement, and proven ability to build C-suite relationships.
You will identify and qualify opportunities with large energy consumers, build relationships with procurement teams and sustainability leaders, develop commercial proposals for energy procurement and advisory services, negotiate service agreements and contract terms, and manage client relationships from initial engagement through contract execution. Working closely with technical advisory, analytics, and delivery teams, you will ensure commercial success whilst supporting clients through energy transition.
This is a client-facing business development role requiring both commercial hunting capability and technical credibility, with direct accountability for revenue generation and client acquisition in the corporate energy market.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Acquisition:
* Identify opportunities with large corporate energy consumers requiring procurement strategy, cost optimisation, and decarbonisation solutions
* Maintain robust pipeline of business prospects with corporates, industrial clients, and large energy users
* Build relationships with C-suite, procurement teams, sustainability leaders, and energy managers
* Qualify opportunities and develop commercial strategies for client engagement
* Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape
* Represent the company at industry events, sustainability forums, and client engagements
Commercial Structuring & Proposal Development:
* Develop commercial proposals for energy procurement advisory, analytics, and strategy services
* Structure service offerings meeting client needs across procurement, sustainability, and cost management
* Design bespoke solutions addressing client pain points including energy costs, carbon reduction, and renewable integration
* Price services and develop commercial terms balancing client value with company objectives
* Partner with technical teams to design solutions incorporating analytics, market intelligence, and procurement strategy
* Present proposals and recommendations to senior client stakeholders
Client Relationship Management:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with large corporate clients, procurement teams, and sustainability leaders
* Understand client energy challenges, cost pressures, and decarbonisation objectives
* Support clients through full engagement lifecycle from initial meetings to contract signing

Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, engineering, economics, or related field
* 5-8 years' experience in B2B business development, corporate energy sales, or energy consulting with proven track record
* Demonstrable experience engaging with large corporate clients (B2B/C&I energy consumers) - this is essential
* Understanding of corporate energy procurement, electricity markets, and energy cost management
* Knowledge of corporate sustainability, decarbonisation strategies, and renewable energy integration
* Strong commercial acumen recognising opportunities for client value creation and business growth
* Excellent relationship-building skills with ability to engage C-suite and senior corporate decision-makers
* Commercial negotiation capability balancing client requirements with company objectives
