Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Development Coach to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in delivering the Education First Youth Foyer (EFYF) model to students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the Advantage Thinking framework, coaching students to achieve their goals in education and employment. You will have at least fortnightly contact with each student to ensure their Learning Plan is progressing towards adulthood independence.
This role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with stakeholders and services in the community to deliver the EFYF model effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the effective implementation of the EEYF model using Advantage Thinking approach
* Oversee the assessment and intake of new students
* Support students to develop individualised Learning Plans
* Meet with students at least fortnightly
* Plan and deliver activities
* Use brokerage to assist students achieve the goals within their Learning Plan
* Connect students to the right opportunities, resources people and places to develop their talents and achieve their goals
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders
* Maintain accurate case notes, complete administrative tasks and collect data
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* An understanding of the Housing Connect system including young people's pathways
* Knowledge of educational opportunities including vocational pathways
* Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues relating to homelessness such as poverty, unemployment, health, family violence, substance use and other social factors which impact on vulnerable people or at risk people
* Understanding of Tasmania's current housing market and the difficulties facing low income people trying to secure housing
* Concepts of social justice, social inclusion and empowerment and their application to practice
* Demonstrated skills in assisting people who are experiencing disadvantage including reflective practice
* High level interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively engage with young people and a range of stakeholders
* Client feedback and participation strategies, their application to practice and quality improvement process
* Comprehensive knowledge of the community services sector and resources available for young people
* High level initiative, problem solving and resilience skills including the ability to maintain a positive outlook, see the 'bigger picture', identify opportunities and implement solutions
* Well-developed writing skills including the ability to maintain accurate, professional case-notes, write reports, collect data, prepare correspondence and provide required information within program guidelines
* Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage own work flows in conjunction with senior staff
* Computer skills, in particular the ability to operate work processing and database management
