Katherine Town Council is the local government authority for Katherine, a township in the Northern Territory. We provide essential services to our community, including rates, roads, infrastructure, animal control, waste management, and more.
Located at a critical crossroads point for Northern Australia, Katherine connects Perth to Darwin from the west and Adelaide to Darwin through the north/south highway and rail corridor. Our town services the wider region with access to education and medical services.
Around 8,000 people live in the Katherine municipality, with the local RAAF Airbase at Tindal adding around 2,000 to this figure, making it over 10,000 people living and working in Katherine.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A current NT Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's Licence.
* To be physically fit to undertake manual labour in an outdoor setting for prolonged periods of time.
* Experience or qualifications related to civil construction and/or waste management facility operations.
* Related trade skills certification.
* Experience in Local Government.
* Qualification/accreditation in Front Load Operator and Dozer.
Key Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Environment and Municipal Manager and is responsible for undertaking duties for the Infrastructure Operations works program. Duties include:
* Maintenance and service delivery related to roads, paths, and drainage networks, buildings, recreation, and public facilities.
* Landfill and waste transfer station operations.
You will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of plant and equipment and performing labouring tasks as requested to maintain and improve Council assets and infrastructure throughout the Katherine Municipality.
