HAYS are partnered with a large organisation in Fremantle, who are seeking temporary backfill for a Campus Operations Assistant. The position plays a key role in ensuring the effective, safe, and timely delivery of campus operational services. This position supports the day‐to‐day functionality of campus spaces, grounds, utilities, and event setups, contributing to a positive experience for students, staff, and visitors.
Your new role
1. Assist in the effective and timely provision of operational services across campus.
2. Manage courtyards and external grounds to ensure cleanliness, appearance, and safety.
3. Manage waste and recycling bins, ensuring correct placement, rotation, and compliance with waste‐handling procedures.
4. Carry out on‐site deliveries, including receiving, transporting, and distributing goods and materials.
* Assist the Maintenance Manager in performing basic general maintenance duties across buildings and grounds.
* Conduct routine checks of facilities and outdoor spaces, reporting issues or hazards promptly.
* Support minor repairs and operational tasks as directed
o Ensure teaching venues, meeting rooms, and shared spaces are properly set up and functional.
o Support the setup and pack‐down of furniture and equipment for functions, meetings, and special events.
o Prepare courtyards and outdoor spaces, including sweeping and cleaning as required.
+ Collaborate effectively with internal staff, contractors, and service providers.
+ Adhere to all WHS guidelines, risk management processes, and compliance requirements.
+ Perform other relevant operational duties as instructed to support campus operations.
What you'll need to succeed
* Experience in facilities support, groundskeeping, general maintenance, or a similar operational role
* Ability to perform manual labour and meet physical requirements of the role.
* Current driving licence
* Knowledge of safe work practices and WHS responsibilities
* Strong practical skills and willingness to undertake manual handling tasks.
* Good communication and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to work with limited supervision and manage competing priorities.
* Basic problem‐solving skills relating to maintenance and facilities tasks.
* Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to campus presentation and service delivery.
