Associate, project finance – financial modelling

About the role MUFG is a global leader in Project Finance and one of the largest Project Finance houses in Australia.

What you’ll be doing

Support the development, auditing and review of complex project finance models across Financial Advisory and lending mandates

Work closely with Managing Directors and Directors in pitching for and arranging project finance transactions

Assist with allocated workflow related to Project Finance transactions, including credit papers, negotiation of financing terms, documentation, and due diligence coordination

Assist with preparation of pitch packs, Information Memorandums, scope of works, mandate letters, etc., especially where it is connected to financial modelling workstreams

Ensure new transactions comply with MUFG’s credit and other policies

Contribute to the maintenance of positive relationships with project sponsors/borrowers/advisors/legal counsels/funds/bank customers to materially contribute to MUFG’s financial performance

Assist with submission of credit proposals and analysis including:

Preparation of credit proposals and analysis

Prepare other required approvals

General administration within Project Finance

To report all compliance matters to the Compliance Department in a timely manner

Manage the processing of the credit

Prepare/review financial models and run sensitivities

Assist in managing and instructing junior staff and general administration matters within Project Finance

What we are looking for

2–3 years’ experience with relevant industry experience (e.g., from a bank, advisory firm, Big 4, modelling consultancy) demonstrating extensive Financial Modelling capability and Project finance knowledge

Financial modelling expertise—including model build, audit, optimisation, VBA and best‑practice design

Undergraduate Business/Commerce/Law/Engineering/Actuarial/Finance Degree from a leading university is essential

Strong business and financial acumen

Good communication skills with the ability to influence others

Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate with other departments

MS office experience with extensive capabilities in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
