Australian Citizens with NV1 Clearance Required:
* Contract duration: ASAP to 30-06-2023, with two possible 12-month extensions.
* Australian citizenship and NV1 clearance are mandatory. Ability to obtain NV2 clearance is also required.
About the Role:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing and specifying network architectures, topologies, configuration databases, and design documentation. This includes user/system interfaces, validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security, and audit controls.
The successful candidate will assess associated risks and specify recovery routines and contingency procedures. They will translate logical designs into physical designs.
Main Responsibilities:
* Implementation and transition of network components.
* Contributing to the writing of detailed network designs and Technical Implementation Instructions.
* Leading the development of organizational capabilities for systems integration and build, including automation and continuous integration.
* Scope, review, assess, advise, amend (where necessary), plan, and implement engineering tasks as defined by the Project/program.
* Ensuring high-quality documentation is generated to support the product engineering baseline.
* Assessing and advising on appropriate technology solutions, including hardware, software, firmware, and vendors where relevant to a task.
* Assessing and advising on system architecture where relevant to a task.
* Coordinating ITSM changes, including the development and/or maintenance of engineering artefacts and Service Records through extant SMB ITSM processes.
* Assessing the suitability of defect remediation activities in accordance with the CIOG Technical Assurance Framework.
* Delivering engineering effort to assess and rectify Obsolescence within the Strategic Gateway Environment (SGE).
* Other tasks reasonably requested by the program.
Requirements:
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an information technology-related field with a focus on network engineering or equivalent experience in the field.
Skills:
* Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
* Ability to think critically and visualize solutions.
* Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.
* Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
* Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
* Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
* Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
* Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Understanding of LAN and WAN experience, Cisco routers and switches, telephony, firewalls, network security, WAN Optimization.
