About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior/Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team and lead the delivery of innovative building services solutions across healthcare, commercial, data centre, and tertiary sectors. You’ll drive sustainable design practices and contribute to cutting-edge solutions. Key Responsibilities
1. Apply relevant codes, standards, and legislative requirements to deliver efficient technical solutions to staff, managers, and clients.
2. Provide technical and administrative support, including engineering calculations, reports, tenders, and construction documentation, in compliance with Meinhardt standards and relevant codes.
3. Offer expertise and advice on engineering standards, ensuring best-value solutions for the team.
4. Review and appraise engineering designs and certification documents for compliance with procedures and documentation standards.
5. Manage project phases, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
6. Liaise with engineers, project teams, authorities, and clients, maintaining strong relationships and providing regular updates.
7. Deliver excellent technical and internal client service, ensuring objectives and deadlines are met.
8. Monitor and report team performance against timelines, fees, and budgets as a Project Leader.
9. Prepare accurate, well-presented project reports, ensuring they meet technical standards.
10. Plan and execute discipline-specific professional engineering work, collaborating with other disciplines.
11. Ensure projects meet Meinhardt’s quality assurance standards while satisfying manager expectations.
12. Assist Project Leaders with project updates and ensuring expectations are met.
13. Coordinate with sub-consultants and inform the team or Project Leader of any delays or issues.
14. Take responsibility for assigned tasks, making decisions on technical matters while keeping the Project Leader informed.
15. Provide project updates to clients, fostering repeat business opportunities.
16. Support tender, proposal, and submission preparation, ensuring compliance with Meinhardt’s quality standards.
17. Register new projects in BST as a Project Leader and ensure timely project completion.
18. Participate in regular meetings and share knowledge to build team capability.
19. Encourage knowledge sharing and technical learning within the team.
20. Stay up-to-date with relevant technologies, techniques, and legislative changes.
21. Maintain documentation in accordance with Meinhardt’s IMS and meet IMS standards.
22. Drive improvement initiatives and assist in implementing them within agreed time frames.
23. Participate in the organization’s Occupational Health & Safety program and ensure compliance with safety standards.
24. Attend approved seminars and training for professional and personal development.
25. Complete timesheets daily and submit them by 4:30 pm each Friday.
26. Provide high-quality client service delivery in accordance with Meinhardt’s quality technical standards.
27. Solve client/project team problems with innovative solutions, consulting with colleagues for the best ideas.
28. Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies, developing and implementing standards, systems, and processes to support continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
1. Proven experience in mechanical (HVAC) engineering design, focusing on successful project delivery, risk management, and problem-solving.
2. Strong knowledge of sustainable principles (e.g., JV3, Section J, SMP Reports) and cost-effective solutions.
3. Proficient in SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Carrier HAP, IES VE, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and tools like Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam Revu, and ASHRAE Psychrometric Analysis Tool.
4. Experience preparing technical reports with expertise in Healthcare, Data Centres, Commercial, Education, and Defence sectors.
5. Strong project accounting, budgeting, and cost management skills, with experience working with contractors and MEP Design Consultants.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in mentoring and training teams.
7. Over 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Chartered Engineer status, and NER registration.
8. High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to maintain performance under pressure.
9. Motivated to expand technical knowledge and build strong client relationships.
