The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to Queensland communities through Queensland Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service Queensland, and other departments. The QFD collaborates with local governments and communities to enhance resilience and operational capacity during emergencies.
Purpose of the role
You will deliver high-level confidential administration services and business support to regional operations. Responsibilities include coordinating human resources, finance, records, and secretariat duties, supporting zone & area commands, emergency management, community safety, and training teams.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Provide high-level administrative support, including preparation, review, and coordination of correspondence, reports, and other materials.
Undertake general office duties: mail distribution, filing, diary control, travel arrangements, and maintenance of office equipment and asset records.
Coordinate administrative tasks for HR (leave, staffing, training) and finance administration, ensuring compliance with departmental policy.
Utilise databases to create, update, analyse, and report on business activities, supporting compliance and record management.
Liaise and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the public.
Coordinate the development and maintenance of administrative processes, procedures, and system usage.
Prioritise workload effectively, resolve issues independently, and recommend continuous improvement.
Provide administrative support during emergencies and disasters, including short-notice activation and rostering outside business hours.
Key Requirements
C Class driver's licence (non-restricted).
Government purchasing qualifications (Level 1).
Knowledge or experience in the use of human resources and finance systems and database management.
Special Requirements
Support activation of the Regional Operation Centre (ROC) or State Operations Centre (SOC) when required, possibly including night shifts, weekends, and extended hours.
