We are seeking a talented and experienced baker to join our team at the French Bakehouse in Somerville, Victoria. As our Baker, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality baked goods that delight our customers and uphold the exceptional standards of our renowned bakery.
Key responsibilities
* Mix, knead, and proof dough to create a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked items
* Operate commercial baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and slicers to ensure efficient and consistent production
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations
* Collaborate with the Head Baker and Pastry Chef to develop new recipes and improve existing ones
* Assist in the training and supervision of junior bakers and kitchen staff
* Ensure all baked goods are produced to the highest quality and presented to our customers to the company's exacting standards
What we're looking for
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a professional baker in a commercial setting
* Strong understanding of baking techniques, food science, and ingredient properties
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing baked goods
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work culture
* Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
* Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Trade Certificate in baking or equivalent recognised baking qualification
* Valid Australian work rights including valid work visa
