Shangri-La Sydney is seeking a passionate and dedicated Commis Chef to join our Pastry Kitchen and contribute to creating exceptional dining experiences for our valued colleagues and guests.
About the Role
As a Commis Chef in our Pastry Kitchen, you will work closely with the Head Pastry Chef to produce high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods that align with Shangri-La's world-class culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities:

o Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, and baked items under the guidance of the Head Pastry Chef
* Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all pastry items
* Work independently to prepare required quantities for service, following daily production schedules
* Adhere strictly to portion control, recipes, and presentation standards
* Minimise wastage and support cost control efforts by following proper storage and preparation techniques
* Stay updated on current pastry trends and contribute creative ideas to the menu when appropriate
About You

o Able to work in rotating shifts
* Minimum of 6-month experience in any capacity kitchen or as a kitchen hand in a restaurant or hotel with similar standards.
* Proficient in basic knife handling and kitchen equipment
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
