About Our Team

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

Ward 5A, located at Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) and Nickoll Ward, located at Hollywood, is an acute mental health inpatient facility authorised under the WA Mental Health Act (2014). It provides 24/7 therapeutic care for children and adolescents up to 16 years old who require acute psychiatric support, whether admitted voluntarily or involuntarily when less restrictive care options are not suitable.

As the state-wide CAMHS Inpatient Unit, Ward 5A and Nickoll Ward offers a safe, developmentally appropriate, and therapeutic environment. The multidisciplinary team works closely with families and carers to deliver comprehensive diagnostic assessments, tailored therapeutic programs, and recovery-oriented management.

Operating within a secure setting, the unit runs a seven-day program that includes short-term assessments, brief interventions, and group therapies designed to meet individual needs. The service is patient- and family-centred, with a strong focus on recovery and collaboration.
