We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support core network and server operations across our Newcastle site. The role involves hands-on technical work with firewalls, WiFi, servers, and monitoring systems, as well as vendor and certificate management.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise Palo Alto firewalls, including rule base cleanup.
- Manage and deploy Aruba Central WiFi, including up to 10 new AP installations.
- Create and reconfigure VMware servers and adjust hardware resources.
- Perform network port tracing, fibre patching, and switch CLI configuration, including migrations to Aruba Central.
- Configure and maintain PRTG monitoring and provide on-call support for outages.
- Oversee SSL certificate renewals and lifecycle management.
- Liaise with vendors for hardware and cabling failures.
- Conduct routine infrastructure checks, including PRTG triage of UPS/server/network alerts.
- Manage infrastructure email inbox, including licence renewals and updates.
Skills & Experience
- Strong background in network engineering with exposure to enterprise systems.
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Aruba Central, VMware, and PRTG.
- Solid understanding of SSL, certificates, and vendor coordination.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex networking issues efficiently.
Things to know
This will be a minimum 8 hour contract per week. It will involve some site visits and work from home.
