The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Palliative Care Team as a Registrar / Fellow in Paediatric Palliative Care from August 2024 to Feb 2025 in a full-time capacity.
In this role you will consult with a range of clients and families and hospital and community services in order to provide interdisciplinary assessment and management in inpatient, outpatient and community/home settings. The Fellow will contribute to ensuring that clients’ and family goals of care are identified and in developing flexible, anticipatory and goal directed plans which focus on promoting maximal quality of life for child and carers.
Care will be provided using evidence based best practice and in collaboration with other health professionals. The Paediatric palliative care service promotes living well physically and functionally, as well as psychosocial and emotional needs framework within an expert interdisciplinary team model, to meet the needs of family and children facing life limiting illness across the paediatric life span from antenatal to adult transition.
This position includes a significant research component, where you will be supported to contribute to the development and undertaking of research within the department. The nature of the research will be discussed with you in order to meet your needs, the PPC service and the Hospital Research Foundation.
In this role, the Fellow will participate in a formal training program with the RACP. This term meets the requirements for community and paediatric training as well as core paediatric palliative care training.
About You
You will have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
To be successful in this role you need to be able to work effectively and collaboratively with other specialist medical, nursing and allied health staff, and have sound clinical skills commensurate with the extent of your training.
