Our service prides itself on a collaborative, professional, and person-centred culture. We value open communication, teamwork, and strong leadership - creating an environment where staff feel supported, respected, and encouraged to grow.

This position is part of a job-share leadership model, working closely with the existing Nurse Unit Manager 1 and reporting to the Nurse Manager 3. Together, you will ensure smooth coordination of the unit, positive team culture, and excellence in patient care.

About The Role
This is a varied and rewarding leadership position, combining both clinical and operational responsibilities to support the effective functioning of a very busy inpatient mental health unit.

A Typical Week May Include

* Providing clinical coordination for the unit
* Supporting and guiding staff through day-to-day clinical decision-making
* Overseeing staff allocations, rostering, and workforce management
* Monitoring and supporting clinical governance activities
* Leading and participating in quality improvement projects
* Ensuring Work Health & Safety standards are met
* Building and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
* Supporting education, training, and development activities for the team
* Managing escalations, including bed flow and service pressures

This role offers you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact - supporting staff, strengthening clinical practice, and contributing to service improvement in a fast-paced inpatient environment.

Benefits
At Hunter New England Health enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations. Join the team enriching health in millions of ways every day:

* Sustainable Healthcare: Together towards zero
* Proximity to shopping and other services
* 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part time employees)
* Paid parental leave (for eligible employees) - giving you the opportunity for true Worklife balance
* Salary packaging options - up to $11,600 plus novated leasing
* Fitness Passport for health and well-being - discounted gym options for you and your family
* Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members

About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, adaptable, and committed to high-quality mental health care.

Essential Qualities Include

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to think on your feet and make sound decisions under pressure
* Strong knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007
* A leadership style that is approachable, supportive, and able to guide staff effectively
* Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia

Leadership skills can be grown with support - what is non-negotiable is your ability to communicate clearly, uphold professional standards, and lead with integrity and compassion.
