Alvie Primary School is a co‑educational primary school situated in the Colac Otway Shire, north‑west of Colac. The area is located in a region renowned for its dairy, potato, and onion farming. Alvie Primary School, originally named Alvie Consolidated School, opened in 1957. The school site spans 14 acres of manicured grounds, offering a wonderful canvas for children to learn. It consists of two playgrounds, two tennis courts, a football/cricket field, a soccer field, a basketball court, a 1km walking/running/riding track, extensive rose gardens, vegetable gardens, orchards, a 5‑acre developmental bush play area, relaxing courtyards, Frisbee golf and shaded grass areas. We also have a large multipurpose room, a commercial kitchen, and a dedicated music, multimedia, and French language space.
At Alvie Primary School, we deeply understand that a strong partnership with parents and carers is crucial for supporting student learning, engagement, and well‑being. We share a steadfast commitment and responsibility for creating an inclusive and safe school environment, ensuring your child's safety and happiness is our top priority.
Alvie Primary School's vision is to build a community where students develop high levels of social and emotional well‑being while nurturing a "Growth Mindset," inspiring them to be creative, critical, and curious learners. As a small school, we foster a healthy, community‑minded culture and experience higher levels of well‑being. We design our learning programs with the whole child at the centre, addressing three key elements: (1) the child's social and emotional well‑being; (2) the dispositions and skills required to be a successful learner; and (3) the Victorian Curriculum. Our core values are Respect, Responsibility, and Grit.
